LOS ANGELES (June 2, 2007) — A judge says he wants to give David Hasselhoff a chance to prove that he is not drinking before ruling in the actor’s custody battle with ex-wife.
A court hearing on primary custody of their two daughters was postponed Friday because Hasselhoff’s lawyer was ill. Superior Court Judge Mark A. Juhas rescheduled the hearing for Monday afternoon.
The judge said he wanted the former “Baywatch” actor to have a chance to show that he passed an alcohol test conducted Friday morning.
Hasselhoff is under court order not to drink.
Hasselhoff was not in court. An associate of his attorney, Marci Levine, said outside the courtroom that Hasselhoff was clean and that he was being tested for alcohol use “several times a week.”
Hasselhoff, 54, and Pamela Bach, 43, have feuded over custody of their daughters Hayley, 16, and Taylor-Ann, 14. They were married in 1989 but divorced last year and have been sharing custody.
Hasselhoff, a recovering alcoholic, lost the right to visit his two teenage daughters for two weeks last month after the leak of a videotape that showed him shirtless and apparently drunk, eating a cheeseburger on the floor of his Las Vegas home in April. One of his daughters is heard chastising him.
His rights were later restored and Levine said the actor took his children to school Friday morning.
