Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Get Sweet On Chocolate Like Sofia Vergara!

Fashion & chocolate: A woman’s first two loves! That’s what I’ve been told.

So, why not indulge your sweet side this holiday? Even shape-conscious female stars, like Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Garner, and Brooke Shields have all been spotted at Godiva in Los Angeles.

Choc-o-holics know (or at least rationalize) that it’s good for your health. Haven’t you seen the research hailing some chocolate as being heart-healthy and a mood booster?

Here’s one more reason to have your chocolate and be guilt-free. Maca chocolate! Maca is a nutrient-rich plant found in Peru that’s said to help reduce stress, increase energy and rev up your libido. Now, this super-food is adding a healthy kick to chocolate. MacaSure bars have 70 percent cocoa and a dose of Maca.

Be creative and make a dessert or smoothie out of MacaSure Chocolat.

MacaSure Chocolat Fondue:

Ingredients
2 MacaSure Chocolat bars
2 dark, sweet or semi-sweet chocolate bars
3/4 cup heavy cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tbs. Frangelico or Amaretto (optional)

-Heat 1/2 cup cream in a heavy, non-reactive saucepot over moderate heat until cream comes to a low boil.
-Remove the pan from heat and add chocolate. Let the chocolate stand in hot cream 3 to 5 minutes to soften, then whisk chocolate together with the cream.
-Stir in liqueur and/or vanilla and transfer to fondue pot. If fondue becomes thick, stir in reserved cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, to desired consistency.
-Use a fondue fork to spear your favorite fresh fruits, like strawberries and pineapple slices, and dip them into melted chocolate.

The Macagizer Smoothie:
MacaSure also comes in a powder form that has a mild, butterscotch flavor. It can be added as dried ingredient to baked goods like cakes and cookies or smoothies.

Ingredients
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup ice cubes
1/2 cup soymilk or water
1/4 cup ground flax seeds
1 heaping tbs. Ovaltine
1 heaping tbs. MacaSure powder
2 heaping tbs. of favorite protein powder
1 tsp. colostrum powder

Start by blending the ice cubes, banana and water or soymilk until smooth. Add remaining ingredients. The protein and colostrum should be added last and only be blended just long enough to mix in.
