Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Josie Maran’s Edible Beauty Secret!

Supermodel mom Josie Maran is a favorite of Healthy Hollywood for her dedication to wellness and good nutrition. She’s one celebrity who not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk. Love that!

Now expecting her second child, Josie stopped by Access Hollywood Live to share one of her favorite healthy salads she’s been enjoying during pregnancy. This Moroccan salad is packed with nutritious powerhouse foods, like chopped cucumber, cilantro, red onion, and tomatoes. But, what really caught my attention was the Argan Oil she used to dress the salad. Click HERE for that recipe.

Listening to Josie passionately explain its anti-aging benefits, Billy Bush and co-host Lisa Rinna both immediately paused to try the oil straight up from the bottle. And, to be honest, I had the same reaction – I couldn’t wait to try this “miracle” beauty food on a salad, my body and anywhere that could soak up its youth-enhancing magic.

This Moroccan oil has been used by Moroccan women for centuries for its nutritional and beauty benefits. It’s rich in Vitamin E, essential fatty acids and antioxidants, all of which help us look radiant from the inside out.

Argan oil is a star ingredient in Josie’s natural signature cosmetic line, and the model mom shares with Healthy Hollywood a few of its benefit.

1. Softens dry skin

2. Helps minimize fine lines

3. Treats split ends

4. Good for baby’s delicate skin

5. Give skin a fresh, youthful glow

While, Josie’ s Argan oil is edible, she does recommend if you’re going to use it in cooking to look for food grade Argan oil. Here’s her recipe for a hummus with argan oil.

Garlic Hummus with Argan Oil:

Ingredients

6 cups chickpeas, fresh (cook until tender)

1/2 cup lemon juice

3/4 cup tahini sesame paste

1/2 tsp. salt

1 clove garlic, crushed

Agran oil

Chopped parsley

Add first five ingredients in a blender and puree to desired smoothness. Adjust any of the seasonings to your own taste. Spread on plate and drizzle about 2 tsp. of Argan oil and garnish with parsley and paprika. Serve with warm pita bread.

Yum! If you want to check out Josie’s chicological blog or find out more on Argan beauty, head to www.josiemarancosmetics.com.
