Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Keri Glassman’s New You Rx!

Healthy Hollywood’s good friend, nutritionist Keri Glassman, is hot off the press with her new book, “The New You (and Improved!) Diet.”

Unlike, other weight loss books, Keri wants folks to know losing weight isn’t just about calories and portion control. While what you eat is super important and her book is full of tips and recipes, there are also lifestyle changes (i.e. more sleep, less stress, and even sex) that can play into how you feel from head-to-toe.

Keri contributed her thoughts to Healthy Hollywood:

“The New You and Improved Diet is about eating – not, NOT eating – the first rule is Eat More, Not Less. BUT, just 1 Of the 8 rules is about eating. The other rules relate to ALL the other areas of our lives that affect our health, wellness and of course weight! If we don’t pay as close attention to these we won’t be successful with our diet. My clients are always surprised when I ask about stress levels, sleep habits, how organized their closet is or when the last time was that they had massage.

But the fact is you must pay attention to all these areas of your life for ultimate weight loss success, health and energy! Sounds like a lot of work? I promise it is not. All these rules for each of the different lifestyle factors work together, supporting one another and “feeding” off of each other. When we DO pay attention to each of them your healthy diet will almost magically happen and you will be thinner, happier, feel better and have more energy!”

Rule number 1 Eat More, Not Less is all about eating MORE. More REAL food. When you eat real food and learn to listen to your body (don’t worry I guide you through that too) you won’t need to obsess about calories.

Try these recipes!

2 tsp. Almond butter

1/4 tsp. minced ginger

1/2 tsp. matcha green tea powder

Quinoa Pasta Primavera

Ingredients:

2 tsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1 zucchini, cut into 1/8 inch-thick rounds and halved

1/3 cup chopped red bell pepper

1/4 cup frozen corn or sweet peas, thawed

1/2 tsp. minced garlic

1/2 cup hot cooked quinoa-blend pasta

3 tbsp. freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 tbsp. chopped fresh basil

Heat 1 tsp. of the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the zucchini and pepper and season with salt and pepper.

Cook for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the vegetables are softened, and the zucchini is slightly golden.

Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in the corn and garlic and cook for 2 more minutes. Transfer vegetables mixture to a bowl, add the pasta, and toss with cheese, basil and the remaining 1 tsp. of olive oil.
