Healthy Hollywood: Fab Food Friday – Salma Hayek’s Get Svelte Secret!

“When I feel stressed, I turn to food for comfort.” Nice to know – Salma is just like us regular gals, who indulge in too much food when life gets crazy.

Instead of feeling guilty over a mega-calorie pig-out, Salma knows how to get her mind and body back on track. “If I’ve been indulging in a lot of rich foods or not taking caring of myself like I should, a cleanse is a wonderful way to hit the reset button.”

The actress, 44, is such a big believer is juice cleanses, she even co-created her own brand, Cooler Cleanse, with juice guru Eric Helms.

Salma adds, “I never feel deprived during a Cooler Cleanse – I’m flooding my body with nutrients from organic fruits and vegetables.”

The Cooler Cleanse plan is either a 3 or 5-day juice cleanse and consists of 6 juices per day and a calorie intake of less than 1,200. Juicing fans say a good cleanse can help rid the body of toxins, boost energy, and help shed a few pounds. “Let’s face it, most of us find it hard to maintain a healthy diet,” reveals Cooler Cleanse co-creator, Eric Helms. He adds, “Rich foods, caffeine drinks, and alcohol are, for most people, enjoyable. If that’s you, there’s no reason to cut out everything you love forever. What most of us want is balance. A juice cleanse is a powerful tool you can use to start new healthy habits, and heighten your awareness of what you want to put into your body so you can make the best choices for creating a balanced life.”

Now, that spring is here, I’m ready to shake off those winter pounds and of course embrace the warmer weather with more energy and a desire to get outside and enjoy! So, I was game to try cleansing. I failed miserably on my last juice cleanse – I just couldn’t stick to liquids 24-7. Willing to try again, I signed up for a 3-day cleanse.

Three day’s worth of juices were delivered right to my door (love that)! I immediately refrigerated my liquid meals, and opened juice number one – Essential Green. At first, drinking greens, like cucumber, kale, and spinach, in the morning seemed a bit odd, but I have to say I really found it refreshing. I spent the rest of the day drinking Watermelon & Lime, Essential Red (mix of beets and apples), Coconut Water, another Essential Green, and then finished the day with Almond Nut Milk. The Almond Nut Milk tasted like a milkshake – truly yummy. I still crave (and think about) this creamy treat!

I did make it through 3 days of liquids – yay! But, I did cheat on day 2 and 3 and had a cup of coffee – I really missed my morning cup. As for weight loss, my jeans did fit a bit better, but the real change was in my complexion. My skin looked radiant and I even got a few compliments to boot. So, will I cleanse again? You bet you!
