Healthy Hollywood: Get Movin’ Monday – Jessica Alba’s Do-Good Spirit!

Want to feel more energized? Be happier and inspired? Try giving back, it is guaranteed to lift your spirits and motivate you to take care of yourself and others.

Actress Jessica Alba is a perfect example of a celebrity using her heart and smarts to make a difference. Plus, she’s feeling better than ever!

The mother of two started up the company Honest, which is dedicated to educating parents about safe and non-toxic baby materials.

“Most parents don’t have the time to do all this research – they need a company with products they can trust. I wanted to create that,” reveals Jessica in September’s SELF magazine.

So, Jessica launched her monthly eco-friendly delivery service, which is partnered with the charity Baby2Baby. SELF was so impressed with Jessica’s do-good mommy mission is it is honoring the actress at the magazine’s 5th Annual Women Doing Good Awards.

“I’m blessed with a career I love. I can’t think of a better way to spend my work life than on a movie set. But with people following me when I go out and everyone wanting me to endorse things, I thought I can either go into a cave and hide or use my access to influence something I’m passionate about,” Jessica tells SELF.

Honest was inspired by Jessica’s daughter 3-year-old daughter, Honor. “I found my daughter Honor sitting in her crib, eating these tiny beads from the inside of her diaper. They were all over her face. It was a moment of terror.” But, terror turned into action and Jessica got started on her eco-friendly baby company.

Jessica also admits becoming a mom has been a positive change in so many ways – both spoken and unspoken. “Before I got pregnant, It was all about my career. Afterward, I slowed down and I realized that life is loving, connecting and sharing. My parents taught me that helping your neighbor is part of being human.” Healthy Hollywood couldn’t agree more!
