Healthy Hollywood: Get Movin’ Monday – Stay Fit Like A Superstar Athlete!

Let’s hear it for the girls!

Female athletes – in all their glorious form – hit the red carpet for the Women’s Sports Foundation’s 32nd Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards Gala in New York City. The organization helps to promote sports and physical activity for girls and women.

The evening paid tribute to top women athletes, like Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn, soccer star Abby Wambach, and basketball hotshot Maya Moore. Other athletes like Laila Ali, Michelle Kwan and tennis legend Billie Jean King also celebrated the night’s headliners.

Healthy Hollywood was on the sidelines. Trust me – an evening gown looks absolutely stunning on these toned ladies. So, I had to ask some of these fit females their favorite way to stay in shape – besides their signature sport.

Laila Ali (Boxing)
“For me, I’m always looking to lean out. I just had my second child, and you have weight on you want to get off. Spinning is a nice workout. You get in the room and you can let your mind go. You got the music; you’ve got people in the room to motivate you to keep going. It’s a lot of sweating. I feel like I worked really hard. That’s what I love.”

Venus Williams (Tennis)
“My whole life is one big workout. I guess for me, it’s just about changing it up. If I’m doing the same thing everyday it’s horrible – unless it’s tennis – of course. I like to try pilates, swimming…A lot of core, but in pilates you can work everything. Swimming is just a lot of endurance. A different way to get off the treadmill.”

Michelle Kwan (Figure Skater)
“I love Bikram yoga. I’m addicted to it in a good way. I like the heat – it really limbers your muscles. It supposedly releases all those toxins that you sweat out. I just like it because it gives you a sense of calm, peace, and there are 26 postures. You flow through it. It’s an hour and a half of intense workout.
