Healthy Hollywood: Get Purrfect Legs Like A Pussycat Doll

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and her eye-popping dancing earned her the trophy on this season’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

Yet, it wasn’t just her sexy samba that caught our attention – how about those legs?

The Hawaiian-born stunner shares the secret to her perfectly toned legs in July’s Shape magazine. While the dancing certainly kept her lean, she credits her trainer, Adam Ernster, with firming up her lower half with exercises that emphasize balancing on one leg while the other leg’s moving.

“That constant challenge tires out your butt and legs faster, so you can see results in less time,” Adam reveals to Shape.

Nicole’s Basic Toning Routine: (you can do it too!)

Three times a week (not on back-to-back days) warm up with 5 minutes of easy cardio, then do 2 to 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps of sculpting exercises. Here’s a few of Nicole’s favorite toners:

1. Froggy: (works butt and legs)

Lie face down with your hips centered on a stability ball and hands on the ground in front of you, elbows slightly bent. Bend knees and press soles of feet together. Lift legs until thighs are parallel to the ground. Lower legs and repeat.

2. Touchdown: (works butt and legs)

Hold a kettlebell in right hand in front of right thigh and stand with weight on left foot, right knee bent and toes on ground behind you. Bend left knee and lift right leg as you bend forward, lowering kettlebell toward the ground. Rise up, repeat. Switch sides to complete set.

3. Bent-legged Dead Lift: (works butt and legs)

Hold a kettlebell with hands in front of hips and stand with feet shoulder-width apart and knees bent. Bend forward from hips, until back is nearly parallel to the ground, as you lower kettlebell to feet, keeping it close to body. Stand up and repeat.

Nicole’s trainer designed 2 different groups of toning exercises, and has her alternate the group she does every workout. Find out more of Nicole’s firming exercises at www.shape.com.
