Rose McGowan has quite a Hollywood resume, but is best known for her iconic role as Paige Matthews on the TV series, ââ¬ÅCharmed.ââ¬Â
After the show ended, Rose slowed down her acting career to get away from the fame game.
ââ¬ÅI needed a break from being famous. I never wanted to be a celebrity. I was standing on a street corner and got discovered, so it wasnââ¬â¢t a thought out like ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m going to be a celebrity.ââ¬â¢ Thatââ¬â¢s a different ball game or deal with make with the devil,ââ¬Â reveals Rose to Healthy Hollywood.
For seven years, Rose took on smaller parts and gave herself time to find her new life passions. She got married and also started a new career chapter as a director.
Sheââ¬â¢s generating lots of rave reviews with her short-film directorial debut, ââ¬ÅDawn,ââ¬Â which is also netting Oscar buzz.
Plus, at 41, she wants to use her celebrity to raise awareness to a cause very dear to her heart.
A few years back, Roseââ¬â¢s father got diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a fatal and debilitating disease that causes permanent scarring of the lungs.
Her father, Daniel, died and Rose is determined to make folks more aware of IPF.
ââ¬ÅThatââ¬â¢s part of my mission in life and Iââ¬â¢m here for the people on the ground that can speak but nobody is listening,ââ¬Â explains Rose.
Some 140,000 Americans have been diagnosed with IPF and thereââ¬â¢s no known cause for the disease.
Rose adds, ââ¬ÅMy father was a bit of a lion of a man and had incredible energy. He was a vegan for 20 years and hiked every day. These are the things youââ¬â¢re supposed to do to stay healthy and if IPF happened to him it can happen to anyone.ââ¬Â
And, sheââ¬â¢s found a new passion, declaring, ââ¬ÅDirecting is my love. I have three films in the works!ââ¬Â
