Healthy Hollywood: Try It On Tuesday – Gwyneth Paltrow’s Go-To Snack!

The holidays are the season of parties, calorie-rich buffets, cookies and one too many drinks at night. And these temptations aren’t going away anytime soon.

While, the holiday weight gain is exaggerated, most people put on a mere one pound – not the 5 to 7 often reported by the media.

Most folks never shed that extra pound, so the holiday pound does contribute to long term gains.

One way to beat the bulk is to a eat protein bar in between meals or as a meal substitute. The go-to-bar of Hollywood celebs is thinkThin. Ryan Seacrest calls it “gold” and Gwyneth Paltrow reveals it’s one of her favorite snacks. Julianne Hough and Jake Gyllenhaal are also fans! “When choosing a protein bar, look for natural ingredients as rated by Whole Foods. Look for low sugar, and quality ingredients like a blend of Soy, Whey and milk. Protein bars are a great snack because they help you control your hunger by keeping you satisfied until your next meal,” suggests Lizanne Falsetto, founder of thinkThin.

If you know you’re going to hit the holiday party circuit, why not strategize your meals during the day? “Make sure to eat breakfast. If you start your day off eating right, you’ll be more likely to continue this behavior into the evening. Don’t go to a holiday party starving, because you’ll have no control over what is served and you are more likely to make unhealthy choices. Eat 150 calories two hours before the party, like chicken breast, a hard boild egg or a thinkThin bar…to fill up your stomach and satisfy cravings,” advises Lizanne.

A steadfast rule is to drink plenty of water. “It’s great for your skin and digestion (especially during the stressful holiday season) and will keep you feeling full. Enjoy yourself, limit your snacking, and if you feel like you’ve eaten too much – dance it off,” exclaims Lizanne!
