Healthy Hollywood: Try It On Tuesday – Kate Gosselin’s Stress Rx!

If there’s one woman who is familiar with stress; it’s former reality TV star Kate Gosselin.

Three years ago, she survived a nasty tabloid-ridden divorce and now she’s raising eight kids as a single mom. Plus, there’s the constant stream of pesky rumors portraying Kate as the ultimate diva.

Healthy Hollywood caught up with the busy mom in New York City. She was here on behalf of CouponCabin.com. The self-professed coupon clipper writes a weekly blog on the site sharing her cost-costing tips.

Truth be told: Healthy Hollywood found Kate to be an absolute delight – not one hint of diva behavior. She’s personable, easy to chat with and is a wellness junkie.

After a few minutes chatting about kids, healthy foods, and yoga, I felt a warm connection with Kate. Plus, she’s full of advice on how to stay positive and how not to get over-whelmed by life stuff. “When our show exploded [‘Jon and Kate Plus 8’] and the divorce and all that stress, I had this clarity of mind one day. I realized this is the amount of stress people crack under and they turn to bad things. I can remember the thought you can handle stress in a healthy way or in an unhealthy way. In that moment I chose to focus on healthy eating and exercise,” reveals Kate to Healthy Hollywood.

Kate found running a great remedy for stress reduction. “When I realized the connection that running relieves me; I went for it. I’m glad I had that thought because a lot of people develop really bad habits to get through the day.”

Kate, 37, says she first started walking on a treadmill when the kids were two. She slowly built up walking for a few minutes and then running for a few minutes. She said eventually she could run for 10 minutes straight. But, the real transformation came when she took her running outside. “Outside clears my head, the scenery is amazing and I always feel better after a run. My kids will now say when I’m frustrated or things are bugging, “mom go for a run.”

Kate says her best schedule is to get a 10 miles run in every other day. She’s also added another stress reducer to her exercise routine – yoga. “It is so strangely closely related to running, which sounds ridiculous. It is challenging and hard and I have fallen in love with it. I love look forward to yoga now as much as I do running.”

When Kate isn’t busy chasing after her kids, she loves to share her advice with other parents. Kate writes a family-friendly blog at CouponCabin.com. Plus, Kate is running the Rock ‘n Roll Los Angeles Halloween Half Marathon on October 28th on behalf of CouponCabin, who is donating money to the Susan G Komen for the Cure to benefit breast cancer.
