Healthy Hollywood: Victoria Beckham’s Youth Berry!

At 40 years old, Victoria Beckham has discovered nature’s botox in a bottle, otherwise known as acai berries. The style icon recently Tweeted, “Obsessed with Acai berries! Native Brazilian super food.”

Victoria credits her diet for her flawless skin, having battled acne in the past. And, she’s not the only celeb touting the beauty benefits of acai berries. Model Miranda Kerr is also a big fan of the super-berry because of its many nutritional and beauty benefits.

The acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) is not only packed with antioxidants, vitamin B, protein and potassium, but some claim these little berries help shed fat. Healthy Hollywood says, yeah, pass me the acai berries.

“Acai is known as the king of superfoods not only because of its concentrated content of antioxidants, but the combination of healthy fats along with virtually no sugar resulting in a low glycemic food that gives you a boost of energy without a quick sugar crash,” states Ryan Therriault, vice president of marketing at Sambazon, which is the first company to bring acai to the U.S. market.

The company’s juices can be consumed on their own or thanks to celebs, like Victoria, in acai bowls. “An Acai bowl is one of the most popular ways to enjoy Acai in Brazil and this trend is beginning to explode in the U.S. among health minded circles. Acai bowls are crafted by blending frozen acai pulp to a thick consistency, pouring into a bowl and topping with fresh fruit and granola. Another popular option is adding acai to a healthy diet is through delicious smoothies and juice blends,” suggests Ryan.

The acai folks shared two recipes for an acai bowl.

Rio bowl:

  • 2 packs Sambazon Original Acai
  • 1 banana
  • 1 splash of apple juice or soy milk
  • Top with organic sliced bananas and granola

Instructions
Add Original Acai, apple juice or soy milk and half of the banana into blender. Blend on high. Add more apple juice or soy milk if necessary – but keep it thick. Put it in a bowl and garnish with granola and other half of the banana.

Berry-Kiwi Acai Bowl:
