Healthy Hollywood: Wellness Wednesday — Kelly Clark’s Red Carpet Moment

Kelly Clark is a rock star in the world of snowboarding. A two-time Olympic medalist, she is the most decorated snowboarder – male or female. Tonight she’s up for an ESPY award in the Best Female Action Sports Athlete category. While Kelly is used to the public spotlight, getting all glammed up for the red carpet is not her typical thing.

“It is always fun to be part of the ESPY awards, but red carpet glam is not my normal attire. I usually go for more of a young and fun look opposed to an elegant red carpet style – it is more me,” reveals Kelly to Healthy Hollywood.

Yet, she’s not ready to adjust her diet, to ensure she’s red carpet ready for one night. “My training takes priority these days and there is not much room for eating adjustments, especially for one night out. I normally eat a healthy, balanced diet, and I do a lot of exercising…I guess those are good tips for everyday living, whether you’re getting red carpet ready or not.”

The best of the best will be at the ESPY awards, which honors excellence in athletic performance. Healthy Hollywood favorites like tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, along with my go-to golf guy, Adam Scott will all be on hand. Now, this is one red carpet I would actually look forward to covering! “ESPY or no ESPY, I always end up leaving inspired having met other athletes that are gaining new ground for their sport,” adds Kelly.

Besides getting all glam, Kelly is also hard at work training for the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi. “During the season I’m on a maintenance program at the gym. But in the summer/fall I focus on gaining strength and building muscle. I spend 6 days a week being active or working out at the gym. I like doing a mix of cardio (on my road bike), strength training, core exercises, as well as mobility and agility workouts. It is pretty intense, but being fit helps me stay injury free, consistent and progressive on my snowboard.”
