Heather Mills Talks ‘Dancing,’ Media Madness

Remembering Barbara Bush: George & Barbara’s Love Story

LOS ANGELES (March 13, 2007) ? Heather Mills is ready to “Dance” ? and she’s sounding off to Access Hollywood about why she chose to participate in ABC’s hit series “Dancing With the Stars.”

While critics have accused Mills of only doing the show to gain compassion from the public, the activist and former model stands firm on her decision to join the cast.

“My only reason for doing this show is to raise funds for the charity?I’ve been chased and hounded for ten months and told I’m a publicity-seeker, yet I’ve never gone out and done anything,” Heather told Access Hollywood, adding she plans on donating her appearance fee to Viva!, an organization that campaigns on behalf of animals killed for food.

In addition to giving back to this charity, Mills hopes for more positive things to come of her participation in the show.

As the first physically disabled contestant on “DWTS,” Heather told Access, “It’s going to help a lot of kids with disabilities and adults that want to get up and learn to dance and know that with an artificial leg, you can dance.”

She also talked about preparations she’s making to maintain competitive.

“I’ve got a secondary spare leg just in case I overdo it on the foot and it breaks or something,” she revealed. “It can, once it gets hot, start to slide and come off, so I’ve pulled a sleeve over the top which doesn’t look as cosmetically good? As much as everyone would love it to go flying, I’m sure it’s not going to come off.”

Heather’s highly publicized divorce to former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has put her in the heat of the media spotlight the past year with recent reports claiming she stands to gain $56 million in cash and property.

So how does she respond to all the media madness?

“I don’t follow the media. All I do is, my lawyer calls up and says, ‘This is wrong, should we sue, sue, sue?” and we’ve got six libel cases now. So we sue them, we get a lot of money? I don’t like to even give them an ounce of my breath because what are they? They’re nothing,” Heather added.
