Holly Robinson Peete Talks Kim Kardashian, ‘The Talk’ & ‘21 Jump Street’ Reboot

Kim Kardashian has been taking some heat from Tyler Perry fans for her inclusion in the filmmaker’s upcoming movie, “The Marriage Counselor,” something Access Hollywood Live guest co-host Holly Robinson Peete weighed in on.

“We can always count on Tyler Perry to give a blacktress a job. So all across the world blacktresses are upset,” Holly joked about the casting of Kim in the movie, where the reality star will play the co-worker of the movie’s lead (Jurnee Smollett).

“No, it’s [an] amazing PR move,” Holly told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush on Wednesday’s show. “It’s actually pretty smart and the timing is great. Like her brand, this drama will be good for the film. So, it’s actually kind of brilliant in a way… I don’t have any problems with it.”

One thing Holly is not so content about is her former job at “The Talk,” which she and co-host Leah Remini were booted from in August.

“I loved doing ‘The Talk.’ I was really good at it. I was in my comfort zone… was feeling great about it… I did everything I was asked to do and brought it and then, poof!,” she told Billy when asked about her exit.

“Were you pushed out?” Billy asked.

“To be honest with you, I don’t know. I wasn’t given a reason,” Holly explained. “Clashes happened and there are certain circumstances that are beyond your control, things you can’t control, but you can control how you respond.”

Holly then brought up how other daytime talk shows have handled the exit of a host.

“Barbara Walters always — at least — said when someone would disappear from the table, she would say, ‘Rosie’s not here anymore because of X, Y or Z. That was never said on ‘The Talk.’ We just went off to the talk show witness relocations (? S or no s?) program, we were gone.”

Despite her exit from “The Talk,” the star nabbed a cameo in the upcoming big screen reboot of “21 Jump Street,” based on her classic TV series that co-starred Johnny Depp.

“I was given an opportunity to do a cameo in the movie… it’s not your parent’s ‘21 Jump Street,’” she told Billy of the movie due out in March. “It’s Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, they have tremendous chemistry; it’s very tongue-in-cheek and very funny and lots of cussing!”
