Showtime has released a series of new, official posters promoting “Homeland” Season 3 – and one of them offers a look at Damian Lewis’ Nicholas Brody, with his hair shaved off.
One of the show’s executive producers – Howard Gordon – confirmed to AccessHollywood.com in July that Damian’s new look was related to his storyline.
“Brody’s journey is very existential,” Gordon told Access of Season 3, which he also said is, “really nuanced… really smart, and… really psychological.”
The main poster image features Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson, Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison and a roughed up looking Damian (with hair) as Brody. An image of an American flag and the words “Pledge Allegiance” are featured on the vertical poster.
Showtime also released a Season 3 tease, titled “Haunted,” here, on Youtube.
Following the “Homeland” panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in late July, Damian told AccessHollywood.com that it’s a very different Brody that viewers will see when the show returns.
“There are points in Season 3 where you will question whether Brody does want to live,” Damian told AccessHollywood.com.
When asked what is keeping his character going, Damian said Brody is thinking of his family.
“Uppermost in his mind is his family, always,” Damian said. “But, honestly, at this point, if he’s caught, he’s going to the chair. There is so much overwhelming evidence against him and there is such a great need for a scapegoat and for the CIA to make a recovery, and for the U.S. President, that fictional President who is there at the White House at the time, to make a recovery [and] bring someone to justice.
“It’s as appalling at the end of Season 2 as what happened in 9/11,” Damian said of the show’s fictional explosion that took out many characters, including Director David Estes (David Harewood). “It’s within the CIA. It went right to the heart of the intelligence community and I think Brody is just trying to stay alive, and the pressure of trying to stay alive is actually, is what – you see will make him crumble.”
“Homeland” returns September 29 at 9 PM on Showtime.
