Homeland’s Morena Baccarin Talks Damian Lewis Shocker, Future Of Brody Family

Fans of “Homeland” were shocked this season when Nicholas Brody, played Damian Lewis, met his end.

Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson caught up with his former on-screen wife, Morena Baccarin (who plays Jessica Brody on the Showtime series) at the 2014 SAG Awards, where the actress shared her views on why the show killed off Brody.

“I think we had to at this point, you know? Just to give the show credibility,” she said. “You can’t drag out that story too long without it being ridiculous.”

Just because the change was deemed necessary for the integrity of the show doesn’t mean it was easy for the cast to say farewell to their co-star.

“It was hard. It was hard for everybody,” she said.

Without Brody in the picture, Morena said her character, as well as the couple’s on-screen daughter Dana (played by Morgan Saylor), may no longer be a key part of the show.

“It’s tough on the family. I don’t know how they’ll fit us into the story, so we may not be around as much next season,” Morena – who gave birth to her first child three months ago – said. “It’s hard for everybody, but I’m really happy that the writers were able to [stay] true to the story.”

“Homeland” Season 4 will premiere later this year.
