How Johnny Depp’s Children Helped The Actor Find His True Self

Johnny Depp is a chameleon on the big screen and in real life, but his children have helped the actor find his true colors.

Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos caught up with the actor over the weekend at the “Rango” junket, in which he voices an actual animated chameleon in the midst of an identity crisis… but who is Johnny?

“I have no idea,” the 47-year-old actor told Maria, referring to his career.

As for his personal life and role as a father, Johnny explained that he has that aspect of his identity figured out.

“The birth of my daughter, my first kid, was the lifting of a veil. It was like having this fog removed from your eyes… And suddenly you could see things clearly in great focus,” he told Maria, referring to two children with longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose, 10, and Jack, 7.

“In terms of being a dad, in terms of being a pop, that’s exactly who I am,” he continued. “But, in the context of the world that I work in, I’m still sort of figuring it out I guess.”

Johnny has a slew of project coming to theaters that might help him in his quest. “Rango” hits theaters on March 4 and he’ll also be hitting the high seas again as Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” premiering on May 20.
