Hugh Jackman Looking For Laughs In Upcoming Movies

After filming “Les Miserables,” “The Wolverine” and his latest kidnapping drama “Prisoners” – Hugh Jackman wants the opportunity to laugh on the big screen.

Access Hollywood caught up with the actor at the premiere of his new movie, where he hinted that something new – maybe a comedy? – might be in his future.

“I’m gonna hopefully laugh a little bit!” he said when he asked about what he might do next. “I need to reintroduce myself to the family a little bit. I’ve been away too much.”

The actor has “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “The Greatest Showman on Earth” (a musical about P.T. Barnum) coming up, but after those, fans might see the 44-year-old star in a different light.

“Maybe when I come back and get back in the saddle, maybe I’ll do something a little lighter,” he continued.

As for his latest film, Hugh explained that a frightening experience with his son Oscar helped him relate to the movie’s theme.

“I was in Australia in a park and was terrified. And the paparazzi were there the whole time, so it’s a horrible situation where you think you’ve lost your kid. The panic is rising and everything’s being documented. And you know it’s gonna play all over the world. So I’m trying to stay as calm as I can,” he recalled. “Finally I was starting to really panic and I’m almost running away with my daughter looking for my son, and I hear this, ‘Hugh, Hugh.’ And it’s a paparazzi and I thought, ‘Not now!’ I couldn’t believe it, I’m not turning. ‘Hugh,’ they were yelling, and I could feel him running up behind me and finally, ‘Hugh, he’s in the tree… he’s just up there in the tree, man.’ I’ve never been so happy to have paparazzi follow me. I should pay him 12, 15 bucks an hour!”

“Prisoners,” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis and Paul Dano, opens on September 20.
