Hugh Jackman Relied On Acting To Play Magician

LOS ANGELES (October 19, 2006) — Being an actor came in handy when Hugh Jackman played a magician in “Prestige.”

Jackman says he was “shocked” at how much acting is involved in magic.

While studying with magicians, Jackman learned that “half of the trick is convincing yourself that the ball you just made disappear from your right hand” is somewhere else.

He says once you believe it’s disappeared, then the audience will follow.
