‘Idol’ Judges On Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar Chances

Come this time tomorrow, Jennifer Hudson may have a date with Oscar lined up.

She is considered one of the favorites to be nominated for her role as Effie White in “Dreamgirls.”

What makes the possible nod so amazing is that Hudson is a newcomer, rising to fame a couple of years ago as a contestant on “American Idol.”

And even Hudson can’t believe she’s made it so far, so fast. She says thinking about her rise to stardom brings tears to her eyes.

Those who have worked with her aren’t surprised. Dreamgirls co-star Keith Robinson says as far as he can see, Hudson was “born to” play Effie and wishes her the best when the nominations come out tomorrow.

Golden Globes – Jennifer Hudson Reacts

Ryan Seacrest says it’s unbelievable that someone from `American Idol’ could be nominated for an Oscar, and Randy Jackson says he can’t believe how far Jennifer Hudson has come from placing seventh in `American Idol’ to possibly being on the verge of an Oscar nomination.

Simon Cowell is again eating his words about Jennifer. Back when she was eliminated from “American Idol” Simon gave her no encouragement. Turns out she didn’t need his help.

She could get an Oscar nomination tomorrow morning for “Dreamgirls.” So, Simon deadpans: “Jennifer Hudson: who I always said would have a great career.” He adds: “Jennifer Hudson, I always said ‘Oscar.’ That girl came into the room, I went ‘Oscar.’
