‘Idol’ Recap: The Finalists Tackle Bon Jovi, & Simon Gets A Kiss!

It’s bad enough when the contestants kiss up to Simon Cowell on “American Idol.”

Last night, Lakisha Jones KISSED Simon Cowell. Or rather, he kissed her.

The contestants sang the music of Bon Jovi, and she kicked out a version of “This Ain’t A Love Song” that was so good Cowell said, “I actually could kiss you after that.” And he did.

Blake Lewis did a risky version of “You Give Love A Bad Name” in which he remixed himself on the fly with his beatbox skills. It worked for the judges. Randy Jackson says he’d give Lewis “the award for most original version of a song ever on ‘American Idol.”’

Jackson says except for Country Week, Phil Stacey’s version of “Blaze of Glory” was his best performance ever — or maybe it was because Jackson recorded the original version with Bon Jovi.

Melinda Doolittle struggled to get her rock star vibe, but both Jackson and Cowell said she had a “Tina Turner attitude.”

Chris Richardson got okay reviews on “Wanted Dead Or Alive.”

Jordin Sparks admitted herself she didn’t bring her best, and the judges agreed. Cowell called her look “something out of the Addams Family.”

Tonight’s show will bring bad news for not just one singer, but two. Since no one was voted off last week, there will be two contestants sent packing after tonight’s results show.
