Injury Prevents Ryan O’Neal From Competing On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

When the cast of names was revealed for “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night, one expected name was left off the list – Ryan O’Neal – and Access Hollywood has learned why.

Ryan did attend a rehearsal for the show, but found himself unable to go forward due to injury, his rep told Access on Monday evening.

“He had a knee replacement done a few months ago, and after the first rehearsal he realized that it wasn’t 100% yet, He hopes to be able to do the show next season,” the rep told Access.

With Ryan out, one name made it on the list unexpectedly – designer and Oprah Winfrey Network star – Carson Kressley.

Carson, who “Dancing” co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke said was in New York and unable to attend the cast announcement joins Ricki Lake, Laker Ron Artest, Chynna Phillips of Wilson Phillips, reality star Kristin Cavallari, actor David Arquette, HLN host Nancy Grace, “All My Children” actor and war veteran J.R. Martinez, soccer star Hope Solo, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” man of the house Robert Kardashian, Italian bombshell (and George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend) Elisabetta Canalis, and Cher’s son, Chaz Bono.

“Dancing with the Stars” returns for Season 13 on September 19 at 8 PM ET/PT.
