Inside Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard’s Wedding Reception

Jill Duggar married Derick Dillard on Saturday as more than 1,000 guests looked on.

With a crowd that large, Jill’s mom, Michelle Duggar, said the family needed all the reception help they could get!

“I’m so grateful to all the volunteers who helped put everything together for the wedding,” the “19 Kids & Counting” matriarch told People. “Everyone has worked hard and done an amazing job.”

Volunteers tackled many wedding tasks, including making more than 600 cupcakes, 3,000 chocolate chip cookies and 3,000 root-beer floats for guests to snack on.

The group also set up decorations, including an especially memorable display of Michelle’s wedding dress and the police uniform of Derick’s late father (he passed away in 2008) against a wooden backdrop.

“We want to think about the importance of marriage,” Jill, whose parents are celebrating their 30-year anniversary this summer, told the mag, of why they chose to display the clothing. “And what it means to be married.”

The newlyweds left the reception in a vintage pickup truck filled with balloons, and they obliged the crowd when they chanted, “Kiss! Kiss!” according to the mag.

Jill, 23, and Derick, 25, had saved their first kiss for their wedding, and the bride said the big moment did not disappoint.

“It was worth the wait,” she said.
