Isaiah Washington Returning To TV?

Television viewers may not have seen the last of Isaiah Washington.

Following his dismissal from ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” earlier this month, the controversial star has reportedly been in preliminary discussions with NBC about a new deal.

However, people close to the situation told THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER that talks between Washington and NBC have stalled.

It is not clear at this time if NBC was interested in creating a new project for Washington, or adding him to the cast of a pre-existing series.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a rep for NBC had no comment.

Isaiah had previously hinted at the possibility of network interest in him when he spoke to ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY about his “Grey’s” termination.

”[My agent and I] are sorting through a ton of offers in both film and TV … There is one network in particular that’s very interested, but I don’t want to say anything specific until it’s a done deal,” he reportedly said.

The controversy began for Washington after using an anti-gay epithet backstage at the Golden Globe Awards in January while denying he’d used it previously on the “Grey’s” set against cast mate T.R. Knight.

Following meetings with gay rights leaders and his participation in a PSA on intolerance, Washington was informed by “Grey’s” creator Shonda Rhimes that he would not be returning to the show next season.

Washington has since retaliated by saying that his dismissal was unfair, and that Knight should have been the one fired from the show instead of him.

Isaiah will next be seen in the role of a priest in the film “The Least Of These,” currently filming in Los Angeles.
