Isn’t It Ironic? Alanis Morissette Had No Idea She Was Pregnant

Alanis Morissette’s upcoming addition to her family came as a shock!

“I talked to my doctor and he basically said, ‘This looks like the screen of a pregnant lady,’” Alanis told Chelsea Handler during an appearance on E!‘s “Chelsea Lately” on Wednesday night.

“And I said, ‘There’s still a chance that I’m not though, yes?’ And he said, ‘About as likely as my getting a sex change.’” She continued. “And I said, ‘So, when are you getting your sex change?!’”

Chelsea asked the Canadian singer and “Weeds” actress if she had some inkling that she might be expecting.

“I actually thought I wasn’t,” she explained, adding, “[But,] I was very happy.”

The singer is having her first child with new rapper husband Souleye (whose real name is Mario Treadway), someone she met through a chance peaceful encounter.

“I had a ceremony at my house, a little meditation ceremony and he came over and he walked in and I thought, ‘He’s incredibly sexy,”” she explained. “But I had no idea what was to come of our little connection.”
