Jai Courtney Talks ‘Suicide Squad’ Costume

Jai Courtney has revealed some details about the costume of his character in the upcoming “Suicide Squad.”

In the DC Comics world, Jai’s Captain Boomerang character has – at times – resembled someone who would point out where the emergency exits are on an airplane. But in the in the David Ayer-directed Batman villain spinoff project, the character will look a lot different.

“There’s some pictures out there that make him look like an airline stewardess,” Jai told Access Hollywood at the “Insurgent” premiere in New York City on Monday. “I’m trying to avoid that.”

Adding, “I can assure you, that whatever you saw, won’t be what I’m wearing.”

As for his character’s deadly skills with a boomerang, Jai said he’s had a lifetime of practice.

“I’ve being doing that since I was a kid,” he joked. “Wrestling crocodiles, all of the above!”

The 29-year-old Australian actor is glad to be playing a character from Down Under for a change.

“Captain Boomerang, he’s an Aussie, which is good,” he explained. “It will be refreshing. It will be nice to speak in my natural tongue for a change.”

Jai stayed quiet on the details about the movie, which also stars Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.

“We start shooting in a month. There’s a lot to still happen through prep, it’s going to fun. I’m excited,” he told Access.

“The Divergent Series: Insurgent” hits theaters on March 20. “Suicide Squad” is slated to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
