James Franco Defends Ben Affleck As Batman: Daredevil Was Not His Fault

Harry Osborn has spoken – and he’s a fan of Batfleck.

James Franco, who played Norman Osborn/Green Goblin’s son in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy, says Ben Affleck will make a great Batman.

“I think he’s proved himself now as both a director and an actor,” James told press at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, according to E!. “But I will say he’s best in the movies he directs.

“Maybe he should direct it,” he added. “I think he should direct it.”

While critics of Ben’s casting in the “Man of Steel” sequel have been quick to cite “Daredevil” as proof that Ben is superhero box office kryptonite, James said the failure of the 2003 film was not the actor’s fault.

”’Daredevil’ wasn’t my favorite movie, but I don’t blame Ben for that,” he said. “As an actor, there’s this crazy thing where you could be good, you do good work, but then if you’re in a movie that’s not so good, they blame you… That’s just crazy thinking.”
