James Franco To Star As Self-Amputating Hiker In ‘127 Days’

James Franco has been cast in the lead role in “127 Days,” director Danny Boyle’s first film since the Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire,” Variety reported.

The star, seen most recently on “General Hospital,” will play Aron Ralston in a true-life tail of a hiker trapped for six days in 2003 under a canyon boulder, where he was forced to amputate his arm.

Busy star James will also appear as Jane Krakowski’s love interest on an upcoming episode of “30 Rock,” as well as returning to the big screen in Allen Ginsberg biopic “Howl” and medieval drug comedy “Your Highness.”

The ambitious actor also began graduate work at Columbia University and NYU in fall 2008 after graduating from UCLA.
