Jason Segel Admits To Gaining Weight While Shooting ‘Jeff, Who Lives At Home’ In New Orleans: ‘I’m Proud Of It’

Jason Segel and Ed Helms recently came together to shoot the upcoming dramedy, “Jeff, Who Lives At Home” in New Orleans and the hilarious pair made the most of their time in The Big Easy.

“We’re both music lovers,” Jason told Access Hollywood at the film’s junket in Los Angeles.

“I just had so much fun in that town,” Ed added. “I couldn’t get enough of it. I can’t wait to go back.”

Jason, 32, admitted he may have enjoyed the legendary city’s indulgences a bit too much, as he packed on a bit of weight during the shoot.

“I gained 25 pounds,” Jason told Access. “I’m not embarrassed to say it – I’m proud of it! But the movie takes place over one day, so, you just slowly watch my character gain 25 pounds over one day.

“Like, as I walk through a doorway I’ve suddenly gained 10 pounds,” he added, laughing. “That’s half the magic of the film.”

All jokes aside, the “How I Met Your Mother” star said he was initially hesitant to sign on for the movie, as departing from his usual comedic roles was scary.

“The challenge for me is that [I] didn’t get to rely on being funny,” he said. “The challenge of not doing anything is what scared and excited me.”

Catch Jason and Ed – alongside Susan Sarandon and Judy Greer – in “Jeff, Who Lives At Home,” in theaters on March 16.
