Academy Award-winning couple Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz have teamed up for another collaboration – a baby. And daddy couldn’t be happier.
“It is true,” Javier confirmed to reporters at a press conference in Rome promoting his summer hit “Eat Pray Love.” “I am very happy.”
Rumors of a possible Penelope pregnancy flew this summer, after a photo of the brunette bombshell on the set of the latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” installment revealed a noticeably fuller waistline.
Shortly thereafter, the actress’ Spanish PR agency confirmed the news, noting Penelope was four-and-half months along when they released their statement last week.
The notoriously private former “Vicki Christina Barcelona” co-stars, who tied the knot in a small Bahamian ceremony in July, have remained mum on the pregnancy possibility — until now.
The former “No Country for Old Men” star would not reveal the gender of the future Baby Bardem, and said he doesn’t feel qualified to give tips on balancing fatherhood with a successful career quite yet.
“It is a little too soon for me to be giving any advice,” the actor told reporters. “I don’t know yet. But I will find out soon.”
The sexy Spaniards will remain busy despite their impending arrival – Javier is slated to begin work on an as-yet-untitled Terrence Malick film, while the soon-to-be new mom will make her swashbuckling debut when “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” hit theaters in May 2011.
