Jayma Mays Confirms She’s Leaving Glee

As the future of “Glee” remains shrouded in question, following the death of Cory Monteith and the announcements that several series regulars will not be returning this season, another McKinley High mainstay has announced she is leaving the show.

Jayma Mays – who plays neurotic school counselor Emma Pillsbury and half of fan fave couple “Wemma” with Matthew Morrison’s Will Scheuster – confirmed to Access Hollywood the upcoming season will be her last.

“This is going to be my last season,” Jayma told Access on the blue carpet for the “Smurfs 2” premiere in Hollywood over the weekend.

The news came after the actress – whose character tied the knot with Will on the Season 5 finale – was asked about all the changes coming to the show.

“I’m finishing up this season, so I’m not sure what direction and who’s coming on and who’s not,” she explained.

As previously reported, series regulars Mark Salling, Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. will not return to the show. Meanwhile, “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert will be joining the cast.

Fear not Jayma fans – the reason for her departure is due to her new role on CBS’ upcoming sitcom “The Millers,” starring Will Arnett.

“We start up in a couple weeks!” Jayma excitedly told Access of “The Millers,” where she’ll play Will Arnett’s sister – a role initially played by Mary Elizabeth Ellis in the pilot.

As for a possible return to “Glee” as a special guest, Jayma said she’d jump at the opportunity.

“I would love to do that,” she said.
