Jeff Daniels Talks Newsroom Season 3 & ‘Intellectual Free Fall’ To Prep For Dumb & Dumber To

“The Newsroom” star Jeff Daniels says that, despite rumors to the contrary, the intense HBO drama will be back for a third season.

“I’m told that we are gonna do a Season 3, but we don’t quite know when yet,” the actor – who took home the Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama on Sunday night – told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on the red carpet.

Jeff said the possible filming delay stems from scheduling issues.

“They’re trying to figure out when Aaron [Sorkin]and everybody is available, but I’m hopeful it will happen. I was told that it was going to [happen],” he said, adding that he “loves” working on “The Newsroom.”

“I hope we get to do it for years,” he said.

In the meantime, Jeff said he’ll have to table a good portion of his “Newsroom” I.Q. in order to get into character for his next project, re-teaming with Jim Carrey for “Dumb and Dumber To.”

“We start shooting ‘Dumb and Dumber’ the sequel on Tuesday,” he said.

Adding, “The intellectual free fall from Will McAvoy down to Harry Dunne is going to be jarring!”
