‘Jem And The Holograms’: Producer Jason Blum Plays Coy On Movie Details

It was only announced a few months ago, but the “Jem and The Holograms” movie has wrapped, producer Jason Blum said on Monday.

“We finished shooting,” he told reporters after the “Ascension” Syfy session at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills on Monday. “I’m actually seeing it in two days.”

Blum was more than tight-lipped about the project (which does not yet have a release date, but is likely out next year), including refusing to give up any details on cast member Molly Ringwald’s character.

“It’s top secret. She has a great role and she was great to work with, but I can’t tell you what she played in the movie,” he said, adding, “It would be a spoiler.”

He did reveal there is both pink and star-shaped face paint, in “decent quantities” in the film, when AccessHollywood.com asked.

Scooter Braun (Justin Bieber’s manager) is a producer on the film and his role in the project has to do with the music.

“The reason he’s a producer on the movie is he did all the music for the movie and that’s awesome. It’s all original, all new,” Blum said.

And the music is good, Blum noted.

“The songs are awesome. You’re gonna love the songs,” he said.

While he was coy on “Jem” details, he was able to confirm the show’s theme song – and that famed “truly outrageous” tag line – would be in the film.

“You will hear it in the movie,” he said.

In related news, not only will there be merchandise from Hasbro to support the film, Blum said there will even be new Jem doll at San Diego Comic-Con.
