‘Jem And The Holograms’ Trailer Debuts

The first trailer for the big screen version of the “Jem and the Holograms” is here – but is it truly outrageous?

Director Jon M. Chu’s film version puts a whole new spin on the ’80s animated TV show, losing the camp and amping up the coming-of-age journey for Jerrica Benton/Jem, played “Nashville” actress Aubrey Peeples.

“Everyone has a secret identity, which one is the real you?” Jem ponders in the clip, which follows her meteoric rise to stardom.

The first trailer does mention the iconic Synergy character (the cartoon’s A.I. computer and hologram projection system) when Jem whispers (into her phone? We were confused!) “Showtime Synergy.”

But it’s not known if Synergy will appear in the movie in a more human or holographic form.

The movie also stars Molly Ringwald as Aunt Bailey, Ryan Guzman as a hot guy named Rio and Juliette Lewis as record executive Erica Raymond.
