Jennifer Aniston Slams Outside Pressure To Have Children

Jennifer Aniston would like everyone to back off when it comes to whether or not she’ll have kids.

The 45-year-old spoke out in the Allure magazine’s January 2015 issue about a topic she’s constantly hounded about.

“I don’t like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women – that you’ve failed yourself as a female because you haven’t procreated,” she told the mag. “I don’t think it’s fair.”

The actress, who just scored a Golden Globe nomination for her transformative role in “Cake,” believes she can mother in a variety of ways that don’t involve giving birth.

“You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t mothering – dogs, friends, friends’ children,” she continued. “I have a lot of friends who decided not to have children, who can’t have children, or are trying but are having a difficult time. There’s all sorts of reasons why children aren’t in people’s lives, and no one has the right to assume. It’s quite rude, insulting and ignorant.”

Jennifer also took aim at critics who assume she chose her career over motherhood.

“This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I don’t want to be a mother, and how selfish that is,” she explained.

But do these assumptions still get to the actress – who is engaged to Justin Theroux – after enduring them for so many years?

“Even saying it gets me a little tight in my throat,” she said.

As for describing her fiance Justin, the actress gushed about the actor/screenwriter.

“We’re equals. He’s a nurturer. He is so fiercely loyal. Beyond protective,” she told the mag. “I mean, the way he takes care of our dogs, he takes care of me, he takes care of friends.”
