Jennifer Hudson Signs On As American Idol Judge (Report)

One of “American Idol’s” biggest stars is coming home!

According to multiple E! sources, Jennifer Hudson, who appeared on the Season 3 of the reality TV singing competition, has signed on to be a judge on the upcoming season of “Idol.”

The first “American Idol” – Kelly Clarkson – is also reportedly “close” to joining the Oscar winner on the judges’ panel, with the third spot reportedly being offered to fellow show alums Adam Lambert or Clay Aiken.

Season 12 judges Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban will not return for Season 13.

The reality competition, whose ratings have dropped in the last few years, is hoping an all “Idol” alums judges’ panel will have people tuning in.

“It’s ‘Idol’ alums bringing in the next generation,” one E! source said.

A rep for FOX has no comment when contacted by Access Hollywood on Friday and a rep for Jennifer was not immediately available for comment.
