Jennifer Lopez: ‘I’m Not The Monster I Used To Be In The Exercise Department’

Jennifer Lopez showed off a tanned and toned figure at the American Music Awards last month, but, the 40-year-old star revealed she isn’t the gym bunny she once was.

“Part of my business is about being in shape and looking good. You can’t lie to yourself about it. But I’m not the monster I used to be in the exercise department,” she told the January issue of Allure magazine. “You get past your 20s, you’ve got kids… you’re kind of unmotivated. You want to be healthy and look good, but you want to do the least amount to maintain that.”

Age may have changed the workout routine, but the biggest changes in Jennifer’s life were the result of her twins – Max and Emme, who turn 2 in February 2010.

“To a certain extent, having children did change me,” she said. “But it made me want to look at the places that I wasn’t great and learn to love myself and take care of myself more.”

And taking care of herself includes defending herself against false rumors about her backstage tour rider requests. Jennifer told the mag that a rider – which exists on The Smoking Gun Web site – and seems to suggest the singer needed plenty of white things in her dressing room, isn’t actually her wishes.

“First of all, I didn’t even know I had a rider,” she said. “Can you imagine saying, ‘I want everything white everywhere I go’? Crazy.”

Stories such as the ridiculous rider help keep the paparazzi hungry for the superstar singer and actress, but she revealed that she’s learned how to control the pack.

“It’s business,” she said. “Once they stop making money off you, they’ll stop coming around.”
