Jennifer Lopez On Manager Benny Medina’s Comments On Her Relationships: ‘Things Can Be Taken Out Of Context’

Jennifer Lopez hit the press line at “American Idol” last night where she addressed her manager, Benny Mendina’s, recent comments in April’s Vogue about her romantic life.

In the new issue of the magazine, Benny, who is godfather to J.Lo’s twins, Max and Emme, said of her relationships, “The thing that I always sort of wished is that she would give herself time to just naturally meet someone, instead of having obsessive guys pursue her.”

Adding, “The ease which that obsession becomes a relationship I think sometimes works against her ability to have a real meaningful relationship.”

When asked if she agrees with what Benny said, Jennifer told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman his comments may not have come across in the spirit in which they were meant.

“I know Benny and he’s like my best friend, like I said, my creative soul mate, and I know the way he says things and I know he would never say anything that would be hurtful to me in anyway,” Jennifer told Laura. “So things can be taken out of context and you know I’ve done interviews for a long time.”

“Was it taken out of context, though?” Laura chimed in.

“I think a lot of it, you can place it in a way that cannot be the best way to put it,” Jennifer said.

“You have to just know what is going to be misconstrued let’s say,” she added.

When Laura asked if she gave Benny the OK to speak to the magazine for the feature, Jennifer said, “Of course. I trust him completely.”

“I mean, he’s the godfather to my children,” she added.
