Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have called it quits.
Reps for the superstar couple confirmed news of the breakup in a joint statement to Access Hollywood on Thursday night.
“Addressing the media speculation regarding Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake’s relationship, we are confirming that they mutually have decided to part ways,” the statement read. “The two remain friends and continue to hold the highest level of love and respect for each other.”
Justin, 30, and Jessica, 29, first began dating in 2007.
During the latter part of their relationship, the couple was dogged by rumors of a rocky romance.
In January 2010, Jessica opened up to Vogue about her singer/actor beau, noting she had no problems brushing off whatever rumors had been swirling about the couple.
“I don’t feel the need to clear anything up,” Jessica told the magazine at the time. “It’s the most precious thing that I have in my life, and I care about it so much that I don’t care about what anyone says or thinks. I have just not addressed it in any real way, and I’m not going to. It’s mine. And I really like that about it.”
In December 2008, the big screen bombshell spoke to Marie Claire UK, saying she was reluctant to speak publicly about Justin, whom she called her “one sparkly present.”
“And I don’t want to open it in front of strangers,” she said at the time.
However, in the March 2010 issue of Marie Claire, Jessica admitted having a famous significant other had its benefits.
“It does help to have a partner who understands what fame is about and can share that with you. It’s a hurdle you don’t have to get over,” she told the mag.
