Jessica Simpson Confirms She’s Been Approached For ‘The X Factor’

Jessica Simpson’s may be known more these days for her tabloid headlines and her job as a fashion mogul, but she’s interested in giving music another go – as a judge on “The X Factor.”

“They have definitely talked to me about ‘X Factor,’” Jessica confirmed to Women’s Wear Daily, in an interview promoting her highly successful fashion empire, which includes clothing, shoes and purses and is likely to bring in $1 billion in sales this year.

Jessica, whose last certified hit was the 2007 single, “A Public Affair,” told the mag she is definitely interested in the job.

“I think it would be a lot of fun. It’s definitely my life,” she told the fashion business mag. “To be a mentor for up-and-coming artists is right up my alley. I would have loved to have a mentor. I love watching people’s dreams come true.”

Jessica’s last venture on television was the highly-anticipated, but poorly received VH1 reality show, “The Price of Beauty,” which saw the star venture across the globe with pals Ken Paves and Casey Cobb, examining what beauty means to various cultures. The 2010 show has yet to be renewed for a second season.

In 2008, Jessica attempted to reignite her career, making a switch to country music with the album, “Do You Know,” a poor seller. She followed it up last year, with her second holiday album, “Happy Christmas.”

While Jessica’s music career isn’t as hot as the days when she was covering “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” (2005) or “Take My Breath Away” (also 2005), her bubbly personality could be a good fit with “The X Factor’s” Simon Cowell. He helped “American Idol” to ratings success sitting alongside another star known for her outlandish comments – Paula Abdul.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, music mogul Anthony L.A. Reid has been announced as the first judge on the upcoming reality series.

“The X Factor” will premiere on FOX this fall.
