Jessica Simpson is engaged to her boyfriend of less than a year, former NFL player Eric Johnson, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
“Yes, I am excited to confirm that they are engaged!” a rep for Jessica told Access on Sunday.
A source for Us Weekly claimed that the former “Newlyweds” star and Eric became engaged on Thursday — just over a week after Jessica’s famous ex-husband, Nick Lachey, and his longtime love, Vanessa Minnillo, broke the news of their own engagement.
According to the mag, the 30-year-old singer-actress-mogul was reportedly seen sporting a “sizable ring” at Dilliard’s at Oak Park mall in Kansas City on Saturday.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Jessica has made no secret about her feelings towards her new man.
The “With You” singer has posted several photos of the two getting up close and personal on her Twitter page, along with several adoring messages.
“I met a wonderful man. Damn I’m lucky,” she Tweeted in September.
Jessica also Tweeted a photo of the pair kissing in July, with the caption, “Romance 101..getting kissed by my Yalie…me not lookin’ so smart…:) but YUM!”
If Jessica and Eric – who began dating in May — do tie the knot, this would be the second marriage for both parties.
The former athlete was married to stylist Keri Johnson for five years before the couple filed for divorce in January. Their divorce was finalized just over a month ago, on October 7.
A rep for Jessica was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.
