J.K. Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them’ Begins Filming

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has begun principal photography in England.

Shooting on the movie, which is set in the same world as J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, is filming in Leavesden, UK. The movie will follow Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, “the wizarding world’s preeminent magizoologist, who stops in New York following his travels to find and document magical creatures,” according to a description of the project from the studio.

David Yates, who directed “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 & 2,” “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” is directing the project, and J.K. penned the script – her screenwriting debut. The script is based off of Newt’s Hogwart’s textbook – “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

Katherine Waterston from “Inherent Vice” and “Boardwalk Empire” is playing Tina; Alison Sudol from “Dig” is playing Queenie, Tina’s sister.

Dan Fogler (“Secrets and Lies”) stars as Jacob, Ezra Miller is playing Credence, Samantha Morton is taking on the character of Mary Lou, Jenn Murray plays Chastity, Faith Wood-Blagrove stars as Modesty and Colin Farrell plays Graves.

The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures, hits theaters on November 18, 2016.
