Joan Rivers’ Daughter Melissa: We’re Keeping Our Fingers Crossed

Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan Rivers, issued a statement of thanks to fans of her mom on Sunday, and said she remains hopeful about the entertainer’s recovery.

“Thank you for your continued love and support. We are keeping our fingers crossed,” Melissa said in a statement issued to Access Hollywood.

On Friday, Melissa said her mother’s condition “remains serious,” and asked fans to keep the comedian in their thoughts.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, a source told Access that the 81-year-old entertainer was placed in a medically induced coma on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, the star was rushed to Mt. Sinai hospital in New York, after she stopped breathing during a routine surgery. She was previously in stable condition at the medical facility, the source said on Thursday afternoon.

Joan went in for throat surgery on Thursday at Yorkville Endoscopy. During the procedure, the entertainer stopped breathing and a call was made to 911, the source previously said. She was rushed from Yorkville to Mt. Sinai hospital at the time.
