As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, a source told Access that the 81-year-old entertainer was placed in a medically induced coma last Thursday.

Joan went in for throat surgery last Thursday at Yorkville Endoscopy. During the procedure, the entertainer stopped breathing and a call was made to 911, the source previously said. She was rushed from Yorkville to Mt. Sinai hospital at the time.
