Joanna Krupa & Derek Hough Fox Trot To An Early Lead On ‘Dancing’

Model Joanna Krupa proved she is more than just a pretty face when she rocked the ballroom with professional Derek Hough as “Dancing With the Stars’” female celebrities competed for the first time on the ninth season of the ABC reality show.

Just as the men did on Monday night, the ladies and their partners performed one dance before returning for a team relay round, and at the end of the evening, Joanna and Derek bested their nearest competition by three points.

The pretty blonde whose first dance with Derek was the salsa, received unanimous praise from the judges who each gave the pair 8 out of 10 points.

“At least we’ve seen a hot and smoking salsa,” British judge Len Goodman commented.

Later, in the relay round, competing for Team Fox Trot, Joanna and Derek took home first place and 10 points for their sexy moves.

But both Mya with her partner, Dmitry Chaplin, and Kelly Osbourne and her pro, Louis van Amstel, both pulled in scores of 31 out of 40 over the course of the evening, tying the two in second place.

Kelly and Louie actually had the second highest individual round score for their Viennese waltz, which had the reality star’s parents – Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne — on their feet.

“The wild-child rock princess transformed into a vision of great elegance,” judge Bruno Tonioli commented as the pair took 23 out of 30 points.

In the relay, however, Kelly and Louie’s lead over Mya and Dmitry, who scored just 21 in their individual dance, slipped. They took second in the Team Cha Cha relay, netting just 8 points. Mya and Dmitry took first.

While she didn’t quite break the 30-point mark, swimmer Natalie Coughlin and her partner, Alec Mazo, managed to take home 27 points – 19 for their salsa and 8 for their second place finish in Team Fox Trot relay round.

Melissa Joan Hart, dancing with two-time “DWTS” champ Mark Ballas, took fifth for the night with 24 points overall. She also scored the judges’ praise for the potential she demonstrated.
