Joanna Krupa & Derek Hough Reign On ‘Dancing’

Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough managed to hold on to their throne at the top of the leaderboard on Monday’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

The model and the professional dancer didn’t have the highest score for a paired dance – that actually went to pop star Aaron Carter and his partner, Karina Smirnoff – but the performance by the blond dream team in the group round boosted their total score and allowed them to pass their competition in the rankings.

The pair, who were also on top last week, scored 27 points for a sexy rumba pair dance, which lost just a few points after Joanna’s shoe became tangled in her lengthy gown.

“Oh my darling, you are a love goddess,” Judge Bruno Tonioli raved. “[Your dance] was so sexy I could taste it… just a tiny little stumble. What a shame.”

In fact, all of the members of Team Tango – Joanna and Derek, Kelly Osbourne and her partner, Louis van Amstel, and Donny Osmond and his partner, Kym Johnson – had their scores pumped up by the 28 out of 30 points the judges gave them in the group round.

But Aaron and Karina’s pair score (for a feisty jive that Judge Len Goodman said “had enough energy to light up Hollywood”) took them to second place over the night.

Their nearly perfect jive score – a 29 out of 30 –combined with their Team Paso score of 24 out of 30, gave them 53 points overall.

It was a two-way tie for third, however, with stand-out Donny netting the same amount of points as the sometimes inconsistent Kelly.

“As a performer, you’re solid as a rock. Nobody could cover up all of the mistakes as well as you,” Bruno said of Donny’s quickstep with Kym as the two took home 24 out of 30.

As for Kelly, she too received praise for her pair dance – a samba.

“You were unafraid of the dance,” Carrie Ann Inaba commented.

Falling to the bottom of the leaderboard, however, was not former NFL star Michael Irvin (he was second from the bottom), but rather Mark Dacascos, who danced this week with a fill-in partner – Anna Trebunskaya – as Lacey Schwimmer was too sick to compete. He scored just 19 points for his pair dance, a samba with Anna, and 24 for the Team Paso round, leaving him with just 43 points for the night.
