Joe Jackson Having Pacemaker Put In After Stroke

After suffering a stroke, Joe Jackson is having surgery to have a pacemaker put in, Access Hollywood has learned.

A source told Access that the 87-year-old is undergoing surgery after a health scare in Sao Paulo, Brazil last weekend.

The Jackson family patriarch was suffering from fatigue, dizziness and headaches last week. He was first seen by a doctor at his hotel and then went to a hospital where it was discovered he had a burst blood vessel or artery in the back of his eye.

The source told Access that initially doctors did not believe this indicated a stroke, but while at the hospital, Jackson began experiencing an extreme irregular heartbeat and at one point his heart stopped for 10 seconds.

After his heart began beating, it then stopped again two more times. Doctors then put in an emergency pacemaker, which stabilized the father of the late Michael Jackson.
