Joe Manganiello & Matt Bomer Explain The Four Steps To Stripping In Magic Mike

When it comes to taking it off, “Magic Mike” stars Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer say there are four important rules.

“Commit,” Matt told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at the “Magic Mike” junket in Los Angeles over the weekend. “So much of what I learned from Matthew [McConaughey] … and what [director] Steven [Soderbergh] said to us from the get-go was jump off a cliff and I’ll catch you. This is not a world you can only commit to 75 percent. You are going to look very stupid when the cameras are on you.”

“As evidenced by the costumes that we wear,” Joe, who plays a stripper known for his assets named Big Dick Richie, explained. “I think once you put on that costume and you have your American flag thong on, you’re in. You’re in deep!”

The second step to the art of losing your clothes – tease the audience.

“Don’t give it to them right away… hold back a little bit, one piece at a time,” Matt, who plays Ken in the movie, said.

The third component – seduce.

“I think male stripping is more involved, it’s more theatrical,” the “True Blood” hunk explained. “It’s a fantasy fulfillment. So, you’re the fireman. You’re coming in through the window, the smoke, there’s the bed, you pick them up.”

And the last and final step is to “stick it.”

“You do all of that prancing around, you do all of your little character and story line and then you unleash the monster” Joe explained.

“In your case, for sure,” Matt joked.

Shaun asked Joe what many audience members might be afraid to ask, but of course are thinking.

“So you’re not going to tell us if it was a prop or wardrobe?” she said, referring to the character’s ample manhood in the movie.

“Not unless you buy me a drink first,” Joe said. “There’s no irony with Big Dick Richie.”

“No there’s not,” Matt added with a smile.

Catch Joe and Matt, along with Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer, in “Magic Mike” – in theaters on Friday.
