Joel, Jett Enter Long Island Music Hall Of Fame

PATCHOGUE, NY (October 17, 2006) — Long Island, New York, now has its own Music Hall of Fame.

The first induction ceremony took place Sunday, and the first inductee was Joan Jett.

Jett recalled moving to Long Beach in 1979 and recording her hit “I Love Rock And Roll” at a studio there.

Billy Joel was also inducted, and he called Long Island “a clash of cultures” and an “island of extremes.”

Other inductees include Twisted Sister, Vanilla Fudge, jazzman Mose Allison, Little Anthony and the Imperials and Harry Chapin.

The hall of fame does not yet have a home.
